reS-Gr 1-With a charming, missing-tooth smile, turquoise cowboy boots, and red
pigtails that Pippi Longstocking would envy, Annie McRae dances through her
day loved by the adults around her. Her family and teachers praise her constantly
with a chant: "Hip, hip, hooray for Annie McRae!" Then one day, her
parents and teacher are preoccupied and unresponsive, so the child toots her
own horn. She shouts: "Hip, hip, hooray for Annie McRae!" Crackling
text that begs to be read aloud is matched with colorful and inviting illustrations.
Bright happy pictures, a winning refrain, and a charismatic heroine will make
this book a "trail-blazin', whip-snappin'" storytime choice.

What a wonderful children's book! Not only is Annie McCrae fun to read, beautifully
illustrated, and refreshingly positive, but it is also a teaching tool. What
parent or teacher would not want to sit down with a child and read the story
of Annie McCrae--a little girl who learns to become her own best cheerleader?
Children's books are wonderful, and there are a ton of well-illustrated, fun-to-read
children's books out there. Classic children's books, however, go a little deeper
and teach lessons for life. Annie McCrae is one such book. Hip, Hip, Hooray
for Brad Wilcox and the classic tale of Annie McCrae! I can't wait to see what
Annie learns next.
